Favorite Fall Pipe Tobacco Blends

October 27, 2016

Fall is in full swing and is the perfect time to light up some favorite autumn pipe tobacco blends. There is just something about the cold, crisp air and the warm billowing, smoke of a pipe that is magical.

Some of my favorite fall blends tend to evoke memories and feelings of peace, tranquility and days gone by.  As the weather starts to cool down and the leaves are painted shades or red and orange, I typically bring out some deeper aromatics and burleys.

So what is on my fall hit list, you ask? Well, for starters, Halloween demands that I fire up some of Cornell & Diehl's Mixture Monster Blends. They are sweet aromatics but tend to be slightly heavier in smoke and texture. In other words, they have substance and are not light or wispy like some other aromatics.

I also like Autumn Evenings,  another C&D blend. This is a nice Virginia cavendish that is lightly cased with a soft maple flavor.

While we are on the subject of maple, if you are a fan of this type of flavor you should give Second Breakfast a try. Second Breakfast is blended by the Country Squire, Mississippi's oldest tobacconist. This is a nice blend Black Cavendish, Cavendish, and Virginia that is cased with maple and vanilla. It is surprisingly complex and wonderful.

On colder days I like to switch over to some deep Burleys.  One of my favorite Burleys is C&D's Haunted Bookshop. First, it has the coolest name ever. Beyond the name it is a really nice heavy feeling tobacco that is perfect for a cold fall evening.

Regardless of what blends you prefer, there is something special about fall smokes, especially here in the Northeast. The key is to get out there and enjoy the season and your favorite pipe tobacco.

In my next post I am going to update you on some of the fun fall activities my family and I have done so far. Maybe it will serve as some inspiration for your fall day trips and adventures.
